The building blocks of my work are discarded materials--old, frail bits of discolored fabric, pieces of wood and metal that have been burned or weathered over time, bits of machinery, and other miscellaneous objects both large and small that come from flea markets and old-fashioned town dumps, and other people's attics and basements. For me these materials echo their origins in ways that carry with them elements of nostalgia, often the macabre, and, I hope, wit. Whatever the medium–collage, assemblage or construction-the governing sensibility is always my own aesthetic judgment.
